It is no longer a simple matter of attaching photovoltaic modules to completed buildings, but rather making power generation a function of the building itself through photovoltaic building materials, so that the building can be transformed from a traditional energy consumer to an energy producer. Zhang Jingyue, vice president of the Architecture Society of China, said: 'BIPV technology not only allows us to fully consider energy self-sufficiency in design, but also adds more creative elements to the appearance of the building, so that the building can meet functional requirements while having both artistic beauty and environmental value.' Especially in the context of global response to climate change and pursuit of sustainable development, the social value of BIPV technology has become increasingly prominent. Data shows that the national energy consumption of buildings and construction industry accounts for 44.8% of the total national energy consumption, carbon emissions account for 48.3% of the total national emissions, and carbon emissions from building operation account for 45% of the total. The application of BIPV technology is expected to significantly reduce this proportion.
